Waiver of Liability

During the ordering process, you must acknowledge that you have read - and agree to accept - this Waiver of Liability required by the tour operator.

The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. COVID-19 is reported to be very contagious and evidence has shown that COVID-19 can cause serious and potentially life threatening illness and even death.

The Tour Operator cannot prevent you from becoming exposed to, contracting, or spreading COVID-19 while participating in its food tours. You voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 during duration of the tours and by visiting the Tour Operator's tour partners’ premises. Therefore, if you choose to join this food tour, you may be exposing yourself to and/or increasing your risk of contracting or spreading COVID-19.

ASSUMPTION OF RISK - I have read and understood the above warning concerning COVID-19. I hereby choose to accept the risk of contracting COVID-19 for myself and my party in order to use the services of the Tour Operator and its partners.

Waiver of Lawsuit/Liability - I hereby release and waive my right to bring suit against the Tour Operator and its owners, officers, directors, managers, officials, trustees, agents, employees, tour partners or other representatives in connection with exposure, infection, and/or spread of COVID-19 related to utilizing the Tour Operator's services and premises. I understand that this waiver means I give up my right to bring any claims including for personal injuries, death, disease or any other loss, including but not limited to claims of negligence and give up any claim I may have to seek damages, whether known or unknown, foreseen or unforeseen.

Child Policy

  • Children are welcome on the tours, but please bear in mind that some children have a limited attention span, and therefore a 2.5 hour tour may not be appropriate for them. Parents know their children best and should assess the situation individually. Since there is a lot of standing, walking, and market congestion, please consider this when deciding whether the tours are appropriate for your child.
  • Note that there is one pub on the tour that does not have a licence for anyone under 19 (which is the legal drinking age in Vancouver). Any child under 19 will need to stay with their parent outside the pub during the tasting although the tour guide will bring the food tasting outside.
  • If your child is 3 years of age or younger and will not be eating, you will not need to purchase a ticket for him/her - but please include them in your order as a "Child-Free." If your child will be eating on the tour you will need to purchase an Adult ticket for him/her.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much walking is involved? -- The tour is two hours in length but you'll sit down for 5-10 minutes at several stops. You'll walk at a very casual pace and the area is relatively flat and easy to walk. Think of it as a leisurely stroll.

Are the walking tours given in bad weather? -- Yes, the tour is held rain or shine. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and dress appropriately for the weather the day of your tour.

May I bring my dog on the tour? -- Due to the health regulations that govern the various food establishments visited, pets of any kind are not allowed on the tour.

Does this tour offer anything to local Vancouverites? -- Definitely! Many attendees live right in Vancouver. Locals often attend to learn about the history and the new restaurants and out of the way eateries that they have yet to discover.

Are gratuities included? -- Your tour ticket does not include gratuities. A standard gratuity for a tour guide in Vancouver is 10-15% of the tour price. If you had a great time, gratuities are greatly appreciated.

Is the tour wheelchair/stroller accessible? -- Unfortunately, wheelchairs are not recommended on the tour, and strollers are not permitted, due to the many narrow sidewalks, the uneven cobblestone streets, certain staircases that used when entering establishments and the very small shops visited.

Can I shop on the tour? -- It's asked that you please wait to shop until after the tour so the tour can stay on schedule and continue with the food tastings in a timely manner.

Customer Comments

"Tia and her trainee, Tracy, did an excellent job of teaching and entertaining us as we ate our way through the Gastown district! Food: they know it all. History: they make it fun. Culture: they will throw it down with the locals. A great way to spend an afternoon and fill your belly with really delicious food! Thank you!" -- Julie G.

"The Gastown food tour is a great way to experience the local Downtown waterfront area of Vancouver and gain an excellent understanding of its history. The tour guide takes you through Gastown and its restaurants, coffee shops, pubs and boutiques. As you walk you are provided with a detailed description of the area's fascinating history. It's worthwhile taking the tour early in a Vancouver visit, as it provides exposure to places to which you might want to return.
